‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast List: Surprises & Fan Favorites!

Downey Jr. will play the villain Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in at least one of the next Avengers films.

The cast of 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday includes five Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans, according to a series of social media videos released gradually on Wednesday.

Patrick Stewart, 84, who portrayed Professor X in Fox’s early 2000s X-Men films, and 85-year-old Ian McKellen, who played his arch-nemesis Magneto, are both in the Doomsday cast, as Disney and Marvel look to capitalise on Fox’s film collection acquisition. Kelsey Grammer, who played Hank ‘Beast’ McCoy, was also confirmed, along with Rebecca ‘Mystique’ Romijn, James ‘Cyclops’ Marsden, and Alan ‘Nightcrawler’ Cumming.

Their characters were played by younger actors in the 2010s X-Men revival, and their involvement would undoubtedly spark heated debate among fans over the direction and timeframe of Avengers: Doomsday. The more senior superheroes will be joined by newer entrants, including several who have yet to make their MCU debuts.

Vanessa Kirby, who will play the Invisible Woman Sue Storm in the July film Fantastic Four: First Steps, has also been cast in Avengers: Doomsday. Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards, will also be joining the Avengers. They’ll be joined in both films by Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch.

The newly revealed cast includes Simu Liu, who played the title character in 2021’s Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played the aquatic antagonist Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the Black Panther flicks, will also rejoin the Avengers, as will her “Black Panther” co-star Winston Duke.

Florence Pugh, who will reprise her MCU role as Yelena Belova in the upcoming Thunderbolts, will play her again in Doomsday. David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman will all appear in both projects.

Danny Ramirez, who has taken on the Marvel role of Falcon, is also in the cast.

Some of the most anticipated names were notably missing from the list of 27 announced for Avengers: Doomsday, though Marvel and Disney may just be saving them for later.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool didn’t make the cut, but Channing Tatum, who played Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine last year, was part of the exciting reveal.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was also left out, which is particularly interesting given that his character became an Avenger in previous films, thanks to a deal with Sony. The complex relationship between Sony and Marvel over Spider-Man has long been a point of contention.
